In Remembrance...

It is with profound sadness that I share the news about my dearest doggie pen-pal, Chanda-Leah, who left us three nights ago. Chanda ("The World's Smartest Dog") brought much joy to many people and we all loved her. She had a WONDERFUL mommy Sharon, and Daddy Tommy, who shared her with all of us. I will miss her so much...

Father's Day, 2006

Hi, again, to all my doggie and people friends! I hope you all honored your daddies and grampas, and all the special "Uncle Daddys" in your lives! I got to go home to Grammy's & Gramps' and start my week's vacation with them!

Mama dressed me in a new outfit (see picture) and I thought I looked ADORABLE - at least that's what people told me! - I was so excited in the morning that I didn't make "all-gone" with my breakfast, but I always KNOW that Grammy has plenty of food for me, so I wasn't worried...Great Uncles Jeff and Harvey drove me and mama to PA, and the fun started once we got there (I slept most of the way)...I LOVE Grammy's and Gramps' house, even though they'll be moving in the fall...they have these beautiful floors that I LOVE to lie on - cool on my tummy! - and there were lots of people to play with me - Auntie Clucker, Uncle Football, Cousin Molly, and of course my Great Uncles and mama and Grammy & Gramps. Right away, I got some turkey and roast beef, but I was happiest when Grammy gave me a CARROT (see earlier posts), which I promptly hid behind Cousin Molly's handbag to save for later consumption...Gramps opened his gift...me and my brother, birdie face, got him a bright red shirt...he got LOT'SA shirts - and Grammy gave him a wonderful self-cleaning electric razor (which actually mama and I picked up for Grammy...). I knew there was some food on the coffee table, so of COURSE I had to check that out!

Then came dinner, and mama gave me THREE pieces of meat (YUM) - the start of many great meals to come this week! My tummy was SO FULL that I had to have a lie-down...but I got up in time to help Great Uncle Jeff blow out the candles on his birthday cake! His birthday is actually tomorrow, the 20th, but we celebrate whenever we get together!!!

It was hard saying bye-bye to mama - I know I'll be back with her in a week, but still...Grammy & Gramps promise me LOTS of fun this week, so I'm ready to play ball, carrot hunt, play on their bed, sit on their deck, all kinds of things! As the day worn on, I was getting mighty pooped, so I was edging closer and closer to Grammy's bedroom...finally, when all the company (and mama!) left, I got into bed and made sleepies almost right away (except for throwing my toy, piggy around a few times)...so that was MY day...maybe I'll write again after my vacation...meanwhile, if you know my mama please be sure to stay inclose contact with her 'cause I KNOW she's missing me!

Happy Father's Day!!!

Oh Me, Oh My, by Sparkle

I've been having a ruff-ruff time lately...my Gramps and Grammy were supposed to come visit me, but Gramps didn't feel too well, so we had to ixnay the visit - just temporarily! Also, my favorite pen-pal, Chanda, hasn't been feeling well either - what's going on?!

Mama and I had a quiet Memorial weekend - we got some stuff done, and she took me shopping with her - AND, we got to hang out by Starbucks. I snoozed while mama read and sipped her coffee - great fun! And no, I didn't use sunscreen, but mama kept us in the shade.

I DO have something exciting to tell you—I finally met my Uncle Don - he's been living across the ocean for years now - and in fact, although I knew about him, and I think he saw pictures of me, we had never met, nose to snout. So mama arranged a brunch at a lovely outdoor place so I could be there - and Uncle Don showed up (I was wearing my pink t-shirt with the sparkly heart on it) and he liked me!!! Both he and mama drank Bellinis, and I got some cheese from a dish mama ate, but other than that, I was a perfect little girl and just watched the people walking by. Some doofus at the restauranat said I was NOT allowed to be there (OUTSIDE!!!) but mama ignored him and we sat ourselves in a nice corner - so there! And no one said another word about it! After brunch, Uncle Don, mama and I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond - one of my FAVORITE stores! - and mama bought some things - Uncle Don bought a dish towel and a sponge...and THEN (!) we went next door to Starbucks! Uncle Don and mama slurped their frappuchinos...I just people-watched (and what a group of people it was!)...so anyway, THAT was a fun day.

I very worried about illnesses and stuff...I no like when someone I love doesn't feel good...it's been kind'a hot and humid (yuck!) in New York City last week, although this weekend was cooler (much better...). I'm not sure what mama's plans are for this week...but I know I'll be right alongside her, regardless.

She went to take me on my stinkie walk yesterday, even though it was VERY gray out - and wouldn't you know it - as soon as we were down the street, the heavens opened up and I got DRENCHED! I did my business, then mama scooped me up under her umbrella (although I got HER all wet) and we hurried back home. She said she thought she'd have to wring me out! But instead, she took a soft brush, and I sat by the hair blower, and mama carefully brushed my face and body so I could look beautiful again (nice mama!).

We heard about a sale on Maltese puppies at one of our favorite places, so we went today to have a look-see, but frankly, I was not impressed. Ya gotta watch mama with a credit card in a pet store, though...I gotta tell you, I was a little nervous for a few minutes there! Mama would like to have MANY more doggies but I want to be her "one and only!"

So anyway, that's what's new with me. I'm gonna ask all of you to please keep my family and friends in your prayers so everyone feels better, okay? We'll shake paws on it! Thanks, Everyone!

P.S. I have no pictures of Uncle Don because mama forgot to bring a camera - such a blonde!!!
